What is Safehouse?
‘Safehouse’ is an experiential, transmedia game of trade-offs that GIC developed for 13 to 18 year-old students that aims to help them better understand reserves management and long-term investing. The in-school game comprises two parts, an online role-playing module that challenges the player to rounds of quick and hard decision-making and a team-based strategy module that requires mental agility to complete seemingly simple tasks.

‘Safehouse’ has been rolled out to a variety of secondary schools and junior colleges (e.g. VJC, AJC, HCI, RI, ACS (I), CHIJ St Nicholas, Bishan Park Secondary School, Singapore Sports School) and has generated great interest. More than just fun, students learn and understand through gameplay some important financial principles such as risk diversification, value versus price, and picking their spots.
