FWA, in collaboration with International Finance Corporation (IFC) is pleased to bring you the next FWA Exchange Session: Finance for Good – Behind the scenes of Sustainable Infrastructure Development and Finance.
Infrastructure is often referred to as the backbone of the global economy and plays a fundamental role in societies by enhancing the quality of life and increasing productivity. In addition to its effects on society and the economy, infrastructure can have significant impacts on the environment, depending on the choice of infrastructure.
Progressive in this space, IFC would be sharing the background, knowledge and latest developments on sustainable infrastructure – what they mean, how they work and what impact they may have on the future of the financial ecosystem.
Specifically, we will explore:
- Role of developmental finance institutions (DFI) like IFC
- How is IFC different from commercial banks?
- Collaboration between DFI like IFC, government and the private sector
- How DFI and government work together to de-risk projects/ sectors to allow the private sector to gain comfort and thereafter channel funds to build these infrastructure?

Nicolas Marquier, Country Manager, Singapore, International Finance Corporation
IFC—a sister organization of the World Bank and member of the World Bank Group—is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in developing countries.
As Country Manager, Mr. Marquier manages IFC’s Singapore hub office serving all Asia and Pacific sub-regions. With its Regional Investment and Advisory teams, he coordinates IFC’s business development efforts with Singapore based companies to drive cross-border activities and private sector mobilization. IFC’s teams in Singapore invest in projects across sectors such as agribusiness, infrastructure, and financial institutions. They also provide advice to companies and governments on key areas of private sector development.
Amy Luinstra, Regional Lead, Gender and Economic Inclusion, East Asia Pacific, International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group
Ms. Luinstra manages gender programs, engages private sector clients, and advises colleagues on gender issues across East Asia Pacific at the International Financial Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group. Ms. Luinstra leads activities aimed at improving business outcomes through investing in workplace gender equality; including women in agribusiness value chains; facilitating access to finance and markets for women entrepreneurs; reaching female consumers as a distinct market segment; and addressing gender-based violence.
Previously, Ms. Luinstra managed the Better Work program for IFC, a partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and over 70 leading clothing brands that has improved the working conditions of over 3 million garment workers worldwide. Ms. Luinstra has worked at the ILO in Geneva and as a social protection and labor policy specialist at the World Bank in Washington, DC. She has experience in more than two dozen countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, South and East Asia, and the Pacific Islands. She has been interviewed or had work featured on BBC, CNBC, Asia Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post among other media outlets. Ms. Luinstra lives in Hanoi, Vietnam with her husband and twin sons.

Julia Walker, Author and Consultant in Sustainable Finance
Julia is a consultant, advisor and author with extensive experience in finance, technology, innovation, sustainability and risk management. She has spent the last 20 years with major international companies including UBS Investment Bank, The Royal Bank of Scotland, ANZ, AMP Capital Investors and Refinitiv / LSEG. She has led transformation programs and developed market development strategies in financial instruments, Post trade processes, Prime Brokerage, Risk technology and sustainable finance. Most recently she has been driving change in FinTech, RegTech and Sustainable Finance with a focus on new and emerging technology and innovations.
Julia works with the Public and Private sector to advance the integration of sustainability into the financial system through new technology and consults on policy and regulatory reform to enable the transition to a low carbon economy. Julia is an Alumnus from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Sustainable Leadership. She was also a key contributor to the UN's task force of digital financing of the SDG's.
Her book ‘Sustainable Development Goals: Harnessing Business to achieve the SDG’s through finance, technology and law reform’ can be found on Amazon and any good book stores.

No Show Policy
We understand that with busy schedules, there may be times when you cannot make an event after you have registered for it. In the event that you cannot make an event, we appreciate that you use our new tool now available to cancel the event. Cancellation is allowed up to 2 days ahead of the event date.
