Hear from Faye McDermid, Portfolio Manager, Brookfield Private Equity, and guest speaker Jean Chia, Global Chief Investment Officer, Bank of Singapore, as they share their insights on long-term investing and the growing influence of women in portfolio decisions. The panel is moderated by Mandy Lee, Head of Asia ex Japan Private Wealth, Brookfield.

The session will close with a networking session to connect like-minded individuals with our speakers.

Speakers' Bio:

Faye McDermid, Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, Brookfield Private Equity

Faye McDermid is a Portfolio Manager (North America) and Officer of Brookfield Private Equity Fund. Ms. McDermid is a Senior Vice President in Brookfield’s Private Equity Group, responsible for due diligence and overseeing the operational and financial performance of portfolio companies. 

Prior to joining Brookfield in 2019, Ms. McDermid spent over a decade in the renewable energy sector, holding various commercial and P&L leadership roles.

Ms. McDermid holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, where she graduated as a Bergman Scholar, and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Jean Chia, Global Chief Investment Officer, Bank of Singapore

Jean is a Managing Director and Head of the Portfolio Management and Research Office responsible for Macroeconomics, Investment Strategy, FX, Equity and Fixed Income Research, Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM), among others. Jean has over two decades experience including at UBS and Allianz Global Investors and holds a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Mandy Lee, Senior Vice President, Head of Asia ex Japan, Private Wealth, Brookfield 

Mandy Lee has 20 years of experience and is the Head of Asia ex Japan for Private Wealth at Brookfield, based in Singapore. She leads the Marketing and Business Development efforts of Brookfield’s Private Wealth business in Greater China and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining the firm, Mandy was Asia co-head of Private Wealth Distribution at BlackRock, leading the distribution of Wealth solutions spanning across mutual funds, ETFs, Alternatives and custom solutions in Asia. Before BlackRock, Mandy has also served as investment sales to both corporate and private wealth clients at HSBC Global Markets and Macquarie Securities respectively.  

Mandy earned her Master of Business Administration at the University of Cambridge and Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  

Mandy holds qualification of Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

No Show Policy

We understand that with busy schedules, there may be times when you cannot make an event after you have registered for it. In the event that you cannot make an event, we appreciate that you use our new tool now available to cancel the event. Cancellation is allowed up to 2 days ahead of the event date. To do so, please log in to the FWA website, under “My Account”, select “My Events”, you can cancel the event registration under the “Cancel registration” column. For members that no-show for 3 consecutive events, we regret to inform that you will be barred from attending any FWA events for the next 3 months. We hope you understand this policy as our events are often in high demand and your co-operation will allow those who can and wish to attend our events to do so.
