Demystifying Private Credit: Navigating Opportunities in an Evolving Market

Private credit has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments within alternative investments, yet its structure, mechanics, and investment approach are often less familiar than traditional public credit. This fireside chat is designed as a learning-focused session for women in the finance community seeking to deepen their understanding of the private credit landscape in a clear and accessible way.

As private credit enters a new phase, understanding both the opportunities and complexities of this market has never been more important. With a significant refinancing wave approaching and the market expanding beyond traditional direct lending, this session offers timely insights into how sophisticated investors are navigating today's environment.

Join us for an engaging conversation with Jacqueline Zhuang and Jason Phillips from KKR as we explore how private credit operates in practice and why it has become an increasingly relevant part of the broader financial ecosystem.

What we will cover:

  • Private credit fundamentals – What it is, how it evolved, and the role it plays in today's markets
  • How the ecosystem works – Understanding deal origination, structuring, underwriting, and ongoing credit monitoring
  • Public vs. private credit – Key differences in liquidity, risk considerations, and return drivers
  • Current market dynamics – The evolving environment, including the upcoming refinancing wave, shifting supply-demand dynamics, and why quality and selectivity are increasingly important
  • Myths and misconceptions – Simplifying common narratives that can make private credit seem complex or opaque
  • Insights from practice – KKR's disciplined approach to underwriting, diversification, and navigating a market where avoiding mistakes is as important as finding opportunities

In this session, we aim to create a supportive and intellectually engaging environment where women in finance can build practical know-how, exchange perspectives, and gain confidence discussing private credit as part of the evolving investment landscape.
