FWA is pleased to organize the sixth chapter of the Male Champions initiative focused on “Women & Mobility”. FWA Male Champions will share their views and experiences on whether mobility (overseas work experience) is a key deciding factor for women to advance to senior leadership positions.

They will also discuss:

  • The perceived challenges for women to seek mobility opportunities
  • Any bias in selecting employees for overseas work opportunities
  • How do we encourage women to be mobile?

This makes for interesting debate in the sixth instalment of our Males from the Top series, as we bring together a panel of senior Male Champions for a discussion on this topic. They are David Martin, Managing Director of J.P Morgan Securities Singapore , Chua Chee Seng, Partner in Arisaig and Ashish Goyal, Head of Emerging Markets Equity, NN Investment Partners (Singapore).

FWA Singapore announced the Male Champions initiative at the annual celebration of International Women’s Day on 6 March 2015. FWA Male Champions actively support the advancement of women in their financial careers. The role of men in supporting the advancement of women is of paramount importance given that they constitute the majority of senior leadership positions and make key hiring and promotion decisions. In this regard, FWA is proud to feature selected male champions who support and are committed to the development of women.

FWA's fifth dialogue session was Males from the Top – Chapter 5: Why are Women Stuck in Middle Management. Middle management is a key source of future senior executive talent, where emerging leaders build up essential experience and skills. However, capable women who have proved themselves at middle manager level all too often find themselves stuck, unable to gain access to senior management roles – the talent pool from which C-Suite leaders emerge. What can be done to increase their chances of reaching those senior positions, thus unlocking more of the value that diversity at senior levels can deliver? This event had received overwhelming interest from FWA members.
