Junior Achievement, FWA's adopted charity for 2015, is recruiting volunteers. If you would like to involve yourself as a volunteer and teach a class on financial literacy, work-readiness and entrepreneurship, please see below volunteering opportunities:
School: Yuhua Secondary School
Course: JA Personal Finance
Level: Secondary 3 (15 years old)
Dates: 1st & 8th April (both days)
Time: 2:40pm - 4:40pm
School: Spectra Secondary School
Course: JA More than Money
Level: Secondary 1 (13 years old)
Dates: 16th & 23rd April (both days)
Time: 3:00pm - 5:30pm
School: Anglo-Chinese Primary School (all boys school)
Course: JA Our City
Level: Primary 4 (10 years old)
Dates: 19th, 20th & 21st May (all 3 days)
Time: 10:00am - 11:30am
Course Descriptions:
JA Personal Finance
This program introduces students to the importance of planning for their financial future. It demonstrates the roles that budgeting, investing, credit and insurance play in securing financial stability. Students develop a portfolio of skills to make financial decisions and set financial goals throughout their life.
JA More than Money™
What good is earning money if young people aren’t taught how to save, spend and share it? This programme instills these essential skills in students, and shows them how entrepreneurial thinking and financial savvy can transform an idea into a business that can generate jobs and wealth for themselves and their communities.
JA Our City®
City life comes into sharp context through Our City, a programme designed to inspire student exploration of the relationship between the jobs people perform, the skills they need to perform these jobs, and the impact their work has on a city’s well-being.

Typically the responsibilities of each volunteer are:
1) Participate in a volunteer training before the volunteer program
2) Make sure to be on time for the class
3) Teach the entire course over the specified dates
4) Be prepared and have fun with the students

Since 2008, Junior Achievement (JA) courses on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy have been taught to over 74,000 students across this city-state by volunteers from sponsoring organizations including Barclays, Caterpillar, Credit Suisse AG, ExxonMobil, FedEx Express, General Electric, HSBC, and MasterCard.
