The skills of emotional intelligence (EQ) allow you to understand yourself and others. 

“EQ” allows you to develop, motivate and build trusting relationships with your loved ones, staff and/or customers. We have all heard the adage which states “We are hired for our ability, but we get fired for our attitude”.  Emotionally Intelligent people are skilled in inter-acting and relating to others. They have mastered their emotions and manage them in a positive, pro-active manner to build meaningful relationships with others.

Almost all employees are initially assessed and recruited on the strength of their CV’s which are effectively a statement of what they have achieved academically and by inference a reference to their IQ.  However that which makes us human is not so much our capacity to think and reason, important though these are, but our capacity and ability to engage and interact with people in both agreeable and disagreeable situations. Emotionally Intelligent people have acquired the skills and abilities to not only read and understand others, but to engage empathetically in an honest, firm and constructive manner.
In this forum, noted EQ speaker - Laakhvinder Kaur, will discuss how to use your Emotional Intelligence to empower yourself, in and out of the workplace.  She will share exercises on self-awareness, social awareness and self-management, all designed to help you inspire, influence and connect authentically with others from your heart. 
  
About the speaker: Laakhvinder Kaur, Certified Worldwide Association of Business Coach, Asia -Pacific

Laakhvinder Kaur (Laakh) is an accredited coach with the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC ™). She also sits on their ethics and integrity committee.  Laakh is an expert coach, facilitator and is also a trained counsellor and mediator. All of these roles require very different skills and this is the unique combination of skills that Laakh brings to her Clients and Coachees. She has worked with organizations in many continents including North Africa, USA, Australia and several parts of Asia including India, China, Malaysia and Singapore where she is based now.

 Over the past 18 years, Laakh has built extensive experience working with MNCs, government and government-linked organizations and schools. Within these environments, she has been able to support them with their specific needs ranging from Executive Coaching, Leadership Development, Facilitation of Learning and Education (in areas like Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Management, Team building and Being Effective, Time Management, etc), Behavioural Profiling and Crisis Management.
Laakh holds a Masters of Social Science Degree (Counseling) from University Southern Australia. She also holds a certification in Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence and is a Certified Associate Mediator with Singapore Mediation Centre. She is skilled at using Behavioural Science models in helping junior and senior leaders become aware of the impact they have on others and how to build a reinforcing culture within the organizations she consults with. Her unique strength lies in an ability to quickly decipher the needs of an individual and customize suitable coaching and facilitating techniques which meet organizations and individual’s goals.
