FWA Women Empowered Impact (WEimpact) pillar is pleased to host a dynamic huddle on “Treading Unchartered Paths in Corporate Sustainability” with Ms Esther An, Chief Sustainability Officer for City Developments Limited (CDL).

Corporates are rethinking Sustainability and this is becoming an integral component of any viable corporate strategy. Globally, legal and regulatory requirements are revolutionising how corporates account for climate, social and environmental risks. Topics around corporate sustainability are now material and are permeating through C-suites and Boards of both public and private companies who now integrate sustainability considerations into their decision making. Companies that subscribe to sustainable corporate principles are best positioned to demonstrate corporate resilience. This advantage allows them to tap into the massive pools of capital dedicated to sustainable investment strategies and generate sustainable financial outperformance.

We are delighted to host Ms Esther An from City Developments Limited, one of Singapore’s largest property firms to give us insight about CDL’s Corporate Sustainability ambitions. Increasingly, corporates are concerned not only about profits but also about the costs of doing business. The legacy and success of companies will be intrinsically intertwined with the sustainability of their business models.

  • Women are primary caregivers and are naturally poised towards altruism. How can women, who represents half of the world’s population, drive the change in Corporate behaviours?
  • As a provider of capital, the finance industry plays a critical role. It has the power to shift capital and drive the change in Corporate attitudes towards Sustainability.
  • Sustainability reporting – looking beyond brand loyalty and reputation. A communication tool to external stakeholders to demonstrate transparency and promotion of Corporate vision.
  • Millennials demand accountability and are purpose driven. Are corporates well prepared to meet the expectations of this upcoming generation?
