Dec 3 FWA Brown Bag: DARE TO CHANGE!
The Grinch said “How could it be so?”
It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before: What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.
The yuletide season is almost upon us. For those of us who work in the financial industry, after this annus horribilis, there has never been a stronger reason to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Is there more to life than just dollars and cents and KPIs ? How can we give back to society? Where can we start to make a positive difference on a personal as well as a corporate level?
The FWA is pleased to present an alternative BROWN BAG for those who as individuals, want a meaningful addendum to their corporate careers and who as business leaders, want to initiate new thinking that will lead to innovative solutions to social and environmental challenges. It is also for those on the brink of making a significant career switch, looking for the spark to guide them to the right choice.
Kevin Teo, Founding Partner and Director of Volans, has kindly volunteered to talk about the resources available in Singapore for those who feel that Christmas and indeed LIFE, means a little bit more. Focusing on the business of social innovation, Volans (supported by EDB and Skoll Foundation) is part think-tank, part consultancy, part broker and part incubator. They are a for-profit company based in London and Singapore and work globally with entrepreneurs, businesses, investors and governments to develop and scale innovative solutions to financial, social and environmental challenges. Volans also introduces opportunities for management training in an NGO context.
